Bentzel says students have benefited from in-person learning

Christian County School System Superintendent Chris Bentzel doesn’t expect middle or high school students to return to five-days-a-week in-person instruction in the next few weeks, but the district continues to evaluate the numbers.

Appearing Thursday morning on WHOP, Bentzel says a task force is being assembled to address concerns for when students do come back.

Middle and high school students will be on a two-day in-person, three-day virtual schedule for now with a focus on trying to keep the students healthy through this upcoming holiday period.

Bentzel says many academic, physical and emotional issues have been addressed with students by having them back in buildings.

He anticipates the school board making a decision next week about whether to resume extra-curricular activities and is hopeful that can happen.
