NFL owners are approving a playoff expansion contingency plan. NFL.com reports the league has approved the proposal to expand the playoff field from 14 to 16 teams. The change will only take place if meaningful games are canceled due to COVID-19.
The NFL is seeing a jump in COVID-19 cases. The league and NFL Players Association announced Tuesday that there were 56 positive tests for the week of November 1st through 7th. Fifteen of the positives were players and the other 41 were team personnel.
