Bond motion denied for East First Street murder suspect

A bond motion was denied Tuesday morning for the man charged with the August 14 shooting death of 39-year old Tiffany Hinton Gray on East First Street.

Circuit Judge John Atkins watched a video of the shooting at a Tuesday morning bond hearing, with defense attorney Doug Moore arguing it showed that Tyreese Hollowell wasn’t the shooter who killed Gray during an altercation that involved several people.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling says police never alleged Hollwell was the only person who fired shots during the fight, but an eyewitness identified him as the person who shot Gray.

Asked by the judge about a potential motive, Boling said Hollowell had a history of run-ins with Gray’s son.

A 17-year old female was also injured in the shooting and she recovered after treatment at a Nashville hospital.

Judge Atkins said he saw nothing in the evidence that would cause him to reduce Hollowell’s $1 million bond.
