Christian County Public School System Superintendent Chris Bentzel says they continue to closely monitor the number of COVID-19 cases in the system as they approach the end of the first nine weeks.
Speaking with media Tuesday, Superintendent Bentzel gave a rundown of current active cases in the district, saying Millbrooke Elementary has successfully transitioned back to in-person instruction after being virtual the previous week.
He says the student attendance right was very high when Millbrooke went virtual, but they examine multiple data points that led to the decision to move them off campus temporarily.
With help from the Christian County Health Department, the district does a good portion of their own contact tracing, in an effort to stay ahead of any potential spread of the virus.
Superintendent Bentzel says things look good at the moment, but if the need should arise that would go virtual in other schools as well to keep student and staff healthy. He says students seemed to transfer well to a virtual format, but he knows it’s difficult on parents, so they’ll do their best to keep them safely in school.
