CCHD urging people to be extra cautious of COVID-19 spread during the holidays

The Christian County Health Department is urging the public to be extra cautious as we head into the holiday season with the COVID-19 pandemic still very much active.

Amanda Sweeney with the department says they will continue to offer free COVID-19 testing through at least December 31, but after that things may have to change at the department to continue providing those services.

She says if a vaccine does get created by January, they will work diligently to get it to the area and distributed as quickly as possible.

Sweeney says they’re not asking people to not get together for the holidays—they’re just asking everyone to be careful and make sure they’re sticking to those health guidelines.

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has only continued to grow in Christian County and across the state—until a vaccine is available, Sweeney says the best way to combat it is to wear a face mask in public, socially distance as often as possible, and frequently and thoroughly wash your hands.
