Carlos Ortiz fired a final-round 65 to win the PGA Tour’s Houston Open with a four-day score of 13-under par. He’s the first Mexico native to win a PGA Tour event since 1978. Hideki Matsuyama shot a 63 to tie Dustin Johnson for second place at 11-under. Sam Burns led after 54 holes but faded with a 72 to finish six strokes back in a tie for seventh. Nashville’s Brandt Snedeker tied for 44th at one over par.

Darkness suspended the playoff of the PGA Tour Champions Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Phoenix. Paul Broadhurst and Kevin Sutherland were tied at 15 under par and were playing their seventh playoff hole when play was halted. Franklin’s Kenny Perry tied for 23rd at five under par. The playoff resumes today.
