November is National Adoption Month

November is National Adoption Month and there are many children in Kentucky needing foster or adoptive homes.

Andrea Jones with Murray State’s Kentucky Foster and Adoptive Parent Training Support Network says some of the children in the foster care system just need a safe place to stay for a period of time and others need permanent placement in a safe home.

Anyone interested in becoming a foster or adoptive parent through the state foster care system should call The Lakes Recruitment and Certification Office to enroll in an informational meeting.

Jones says there’s a training program and some steps to go through to be sure a prospective family and home is safe for a placement.

This region is in particular need of homes for children who have special medical needs, according to Jones.

The phone number to call to begin the process is 270-889-6572.
