Ky. gains 1,635 COVID-19 cases, 11 new deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 1,635 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, saying that although elections are mostly over, the pandemic is still ongoing.

Those new cases brings the overall total in the Commonwealth up to 113,009, and the positivity rate is now at 6.30 percent.  The Governor says signs are pointing to the next few months being difficult ones, with the White House agreeing with all guidelines Kentucky has in place to help control the spread.  He says he’ll also be extending the face mask mandate for another 30 days.

In a bit of good news, Governor Beshear says there will be no need for further cuts to the current state budget, due to higher revenues than expected and good fiscal responsibility.

Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack says he knows everyone is past to point of fatigue now, but everyone needs to keep the course.

Christian, Hopkins, Logan, Caldwell and Lyon County remain ‘red’ on the state incidence rate map, while Todd and Trigg counties are ‘orange’. Eleven more Kentuckians have died due to COVID-19, putting the death toll at 1,514.

The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 3,445 COVID-19 cases, along with 24 new deaths—Montgomery County added 35 new cases, Robertson County reported 27 and Stewart County gained five.
