Democrat Wendell Lynch will serve as mayor of Hopkinsville for two more years after defeating Republican James Knight, Jr. Tuesday.
The unofficial numbers show Lynch with a lead of a little over 1,500 votes and Knight conceded, saying he was glad to make his case to the people and you may hear from him again in two years.
Mayor Lynch says his main focus now is getting Hopkinsville to the other side of the pandemic.
Lynch will serve the remainder of the unexpired term of former Mayor Carter Hendricks and will be on the ballot again in 2022.
