Voting continues until 6 p.m. in general election

Voting continues across Kentucky and across the country in the general election.

Polling locations remain open in Kentucky until 6 p.m. and while there was a steady crowd when they opened at 6 a.m., Christian County Elections Coordinator Melinda Humphries notes things normally slow down during the middle part of the day.

There are seven locations to vote in Christian County—the Bruce Convention Center, the Christian County Courthouse, Senior Citizens Center, Oak Grove Valor Hall, Sinking Fork Baptist Church, Pembroke Baptist Church and Crofton City Hall—and Humphries says you can vote at any location.

Officials say 12,984 people in Christian County have already voted early and 4,627 have voted absentee for a total of 17,611. If you still have an absentee ballot that needs to be turned in, Humphries urges you to take it to the drop box in the courthouse today instead of mailing it.

Trigg County Clerk Carmen Finley says they had a higher turnout than in 2016 before the polls opened this morning thanks to early voting.

She reported a steady turnout at their two voting locations at The Way and EOC in Cadiz.

There’ve been no problems keeping things moving at the Trigg voting locations.

Finley was pleased with the public having the option to vote early three weeks prior to the election.

The Todd County Clerk’s Office had not received any report of problems with voting or any long lines. All normal precincts are open there, in addition to a central voting location at the Todd County Courthouse.

No Election Day complaints had been received by the Attorney General’s Fraud Hotline for Christian, Todd or Trigg Counties, as of the most recent update.

Polling places remain open until 6 p.m. at all locations across Kentucky and anyone standing in line at 6 will be allowed to vote.

We will have live election coverage at 6 p.m. on the WHOP family of stations.
