Kentucky has already exceeded the record for number of new coronavirus cases in a week with one day left to go.
Governor Andy Beshear announced 1,986 new cases Saturday.
There were also nine new deaths and the number of hospitalizations is at 964—with 236 of those patients in the ICU and 117 on a ventilator.
Governor Beshear urged people to follow state guidance, especially in red counties on the state incidence rate map that includes Christian, Todd, Logan, Caldwell and Hopkins counties.
The state’s positivity rate is at 6.1 percent.
Tennessee reported 1,184 new cases and 12 new deaths Saturday. Montgomery County had 23 new cases and Stewart and Robertson County each gained three.
