Tigers defeat Colonels for second straight year

The 56th meeting between Hopkinsville and Christian County was a tale of two halves last night at the Stadium of Champions.

The offenses produced 33 first half points with Hopkinsville leading 21-12 at the half, but neither side scored in the second half to give the Tigers the nine point win.

The offenses were even in yards with Christian County outgaining Hopkinsville 216-212. The Colonels were led in rushing by L’Ray Coleman who had 19 carried for 70 yards and a score. Quarterback Donta Abren was 8-18 for 126 yards and a touchdown with La Sean Riley the leading receiver with four catches for 66 yards and a score, with L’Ray Coleman also having four receptions for 44 yards.

Hopkinsville was led on the ground by Jay’Den Dillard who had 11 carries for 50 yards. Quarterback Trey Jefferson was 9-17 for 108 yards and two scores, one to Dillard and the other to Reece Jesse. Jesse was the Tigers leading receiver with five catches for 70 yards and a score.

Hopkinsville improved to 4-2 with the win while Christian County fell to 1-4.
