Turkey Trot going virtual this year

This year’s Turkey Trot, normally ran Thanksgiving morning in Hopkinsville, will go virtual to prevent spread of the coronavirus.

Toby Hudson of Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation says you can sign up now to run or walk the 5k on their website and you can do it on your own schedule.

Superintendent Tab Brockman knows some will still go downtown Thanksgiving morning to run the route like they normally do, but going virtual is a way to reduce the crowd and there will be no official Turkey Trot launch or other normal festivities.

While registration is free, the long-sleeve Turkey Trot t-shirt will cost you $20.

While there is a map of the traditional route on the Parks and Recreation website, you can do your Turkey Trot 5k anywhere you please. You must register by Monday, November 16 to get a t-shirt.
