The Flood Watch for portions of western Kentucky to the north and west of Hopkinsville has been extended until 1 p.m. this afternoon and the entire region is likely to see another bout or two with heavy rain associated with the remnants of Hurricane Zeta.
Todd County Emergency Management reported water in the usual places over KY 181 and KY 848 in southern Todd County Wednesday night, but the water had receded by the early morning hours and Todd County Dispatch didn’t receive any reports of flooding issues overnight.
Christian County ECC received a call of high water over South Vine Street in Hopkinsville a few minutes after 11 p.m., but that too has receded. A large tree fell across Madisonville Road near Kelly Baptist Church about 11:30 last night and two vehicles struck it, but there were no injuries.
The Flood Watch is for Hopkins, Caldwell, Lyon and counties to the north and west. Total rainfall amounts in those areas could reach three to four inches, while totals in the southern Pennyrile are expected to come in between two and three inches.
The Mesonet site showed approximately two to two and a half inches had already fallen since yesterday morning in Hopkinsville, Elkton and Cadiz as of about 5 a.m. Thursday.
