Kentucky gains 1,864 new COVID-19 cases, 14 deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 1,864 new cases of COVID-19 from Tuesday to Wednesday, and 14 new deaths.

The governor says these numbers continue to prove what we already knew—that Kentucky is in the midst of a severe third escalation. The Commonwealth is now at 101,494 total cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, and the positivity rate is now the highest it’s been in months, going over six percent at 6.07.

Governor Beshear says those counties that are in the ‘red’, which again includes Christian, Todd, Caldwell and Logan locally, need to come together as a community and work on seriously reducing the spread of the virus.

Long term care facilities continue to get hit hard not just in Kentucky but across the country—Cabinet for Health and Family Services Eric Friedlander says testing has been strong in state facilities and requirements have been and need to be strict to protect residents.

Those 14 new deaths brings the overall total of Kentuckians who have died in relation to COVID-19 up to 1,442. The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 2,446 new COVID-19 cases there, along with 34 new deaths—Montgomery County added 58 new cases, Robertson County gained 29 and Stewart County reported seven.
