Christian County’s Gateway Academy to Innovation and Technology has received $469,000 in federal grant funds to add a paramedic program next year.
Gateway has been selected to participate in a USDA Delta Health Care Services grant in partnership with Madisonville Community College, Hopkinsville Community College, and West Area Health Education Center.
A news release says the grant will allow CCPS to expand the Health Science Program at Gateway Academy by adding a Paramedic Pathway starting in August 2021.
Congressman James Comer and USDA Rural Development Kentucky State Director Hilda Legg presented the grant to Gateway Principal Penny Knight.
Gateway will work with Madisonville and Hopkinsville Community Colleges to extend the health care technical education pipeline in order to create a career pathway for high school students in the areas of emergency medical services.
