College Sports
Bethune-Cookman University is cancelling all sports for the 2020-21 school year. The university announced that it will not play any sports this year due to a surging COVID-19 spike across much of the country.
The Daytona Beach, FL based school is currently on lockdown after 15 students tested positive for COVID-19 between October 16th and 21st. Bethune-Cookman is scheduled to move to the Southwestern Athletic Conference next year.
NFL
Antonio Brown and Tom Brady are reuniting. ESPN reports the seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver has officially signed a one-year, 750-thousand-dollar contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The deal includes incentives that could push the total value to two-point-five-million.
Brown won’t be eligible to return to action until his suspension ends following Week Eight. He’s finishing up an eight-game ban for multiple violations of the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
Golf
Augusta National Golf Club announced today there will not be a Par-3 competition this year due to no fans being able to attend that or The Masters.
It was also announced ESPN’s College Game Day will do its program from The Masters on November 14th. Play in what’s normally golf’s first major of the year begins November 12th, with Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player as the honorary starters. The tournament was pushed back from its normal April date due to Covid-19.
