Gov recommending schools in red counties to go virtual

Governor Andy Beshear announces another record week of new COVID-19 cases after announcing a record Tuesday total of 1,786.

The positivity rate is the highest it’s been in months at 5.97 percent and Governor Beshear says more patients are being admitted in Kentucky’s hospitals.

There were also 18 new deaths, including a 70-year old Hopkins County, marking the 43rd coronavirus death in Hopkins.

Hopkins and Logan counties remain red on the state incidence map, but Christian, Todd and Trigg counties are all orange.

The governor is recommending that school systems look at the map at the end of Thursday and that they transition to virtual learning Monday if their county is red and he’s also asking businesses and local governments to take action to follow state guidance in those situations.

The governor won’t be allowing his kids to go trick-or-treating Saturday night and says families who do go or who hand out county should follow state guidance to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Tennessee reported 1,908 new cases and 44 more deaths. Montgomery County reported 35 new cases, Robertson County added 12 and Stewart County had two new cases.
