Small businesses urged to apply for city stimulus program

Small businesses inside Hopkinsville city limits can now apply for some assistance, thanks to a new program through the City of Hopkinsville.

Chief Financial Officer Robert Martin appeared on WHOP Tuesday morning and says that city council has allocated $336,000 to go to small businesses, including sole proprietors within the city limits.

He says businesses must meet certain requirements to be eligible for the funding, including making sure your taxes are up to date and paid in full, and a certain amount of employees.

The easiest way to apply is online at hoptown.org, says Martin, where you’ll fill out the application and submit it.

Starting Friday, there will also be paper applications available at the Municipal Building downtown—a table will be set up in the lobby for pickup and drop off.  The deadline to apply for a grant is November 16—payments will start going out by the end of November and Martin is hopeful that all grants will be issued by December 15.
