Christian County School System Superintendent Chris Bentzel talked about being “all in” for a better future during the Christian County Chamber of Commerce State of the Schools virtual series event Thursday morning.
Bentzel says he won’t let the pandemic define his first year leading the district and he’s encouraged first-year teachers and staff members to share the same mentality.
He talked about one-year and five-year plans and says changing the perception of Christian County schools is part of turning the district around.
Bentzel says the district has to do a better job of spending its funds with a sustainable budget.
Elementary schools are back in buildings five days a week and middle and high schoolers are on a hybrid schedule for the time being. Bentzel believes the data shows students are more protected from getting the virus in the controlled environment of their school building than they are in the community at-large.
He says part of planning will be a rebranding of the school system that will become more evident in the coming months and years.
