Ky. adds 1,330 new COVID-19 cases, 17 deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 1,330 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, and says that cases will only continue to climb if something doesn’t change soon.

With the new cases, Kentucky is now at 92,299, and the positivity rate continues to climb, now up to 5.3 percent.  First Lady Brittainy says her family has once again tested negative for coronavirus, and are set to come out of quarantine in the coming days at the recommendation of public health officials—which she urges everyone to follow.

Governor Beshear says Kentucky is certainly not the only state experiencing another surge in COVID-19 and the nation needs to come together to solve the problem.  He says they’ll be looking at recommendations that can be made to help slow the spread.

The governor is urging families to make safe plans for Halloween—including making sure kids are wearing face masks along with their costumes, staying together with only family groups, and if you’re giving out candy, coming up with a socially distanced way to do so. He also urged for the federal government to come an agreement and pass a second relief bill like the CARES Act, or else things that are vital and depend on that funding may suffer.

Seventeen more Kentuckians have now died in relation to COVID-19, including a staff member of a long term care facility, putting that total now at 1,380. The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 2,046 new cases in the Volunteer State and 41 new deaths.  Montgomery County added 55 new cases and Robertson County reported 27.
