Recently retired HCC Library director receives statewide honor

Hopkinsville Community College’s recently retired library services director, Ann Nichols was awarded the Kentucky Library Association’s Carol J. Parris Mentorship Award for 2020.

Officials say the award is presented to a Kentucky librarian who has exemplified the ability to assist and advise new members to the profession.

Andrew Adler, Director of Library Services at Georgetown College and President of KLA said of Nichols, “She is a most deserving awardee given her work in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System over the years. As a recognized leader in that organization, she has worked to train new employees and provided immeasurable guidance and knowledge to not only those on her own campus, but many beyond.”

Nichols spent her career working in Kentucky’s community college system, beginning in1985 at Elizabethtown Community College, when the system was affiliated with the University of Kentucky. She worked at Hopkinsville Community College from 2001 until earlier this year and retired as Professor and Library Services Director.
