Deputy hit by motorcycle at end of pursuit, treated and released from hospital

A pursuit of a motorcycle that began in McLean County Tuesday morning ended on Old Madisonville Road in Christian County with a deputy being injured after being struck by the bike.

KSP was notified of a motorcycle being pursued into Muhlenberg County and troopers joined just outside of Powderly. The motorcyclist, 30-year old William Grant Cheatham of Island, continued south on Greenville Road into Christian County before turning onto Woodburn Hay Road and then Old Madisonville Road.

The pursuit came to an end when Cheatham struck a Christian County sheriff’s deputy, who was treated and released from Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Cheatham was arrested and charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, speeding, reckless driving and resisting arrest. He’s also facing additional charges from the McLean County Sheriff’s Office.
