Kentucky State Police have identified the man killed in an officer involved shooting Saturday morning in Muhlenberg County.
Greenville police officers were called to the 400 block of James Street Friday evening to serve a mental health warrant against 53-year old Darren Randolph. KSP says the man fired a gun at the officers and then barricaded himself inside the home.
State police were called to assist Greenville PD and police say Randolph was brandishing a rifle in a threatening manner when he emerged from the residence at about 2:10 a.m.
That’s when a state trooper discharged his duty weapon, killing Randolph.
No officers were injured in the incident, which is being investigated by the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team.
