Governor Andy Beshear announced the highest total of new COVID-19 cases for a Saturday and the fourth-highest total during the entire pandemic.
There were 1,295 new cases, including 162 ages 18 and younger.
The governor says there are more COVID patients in Kentucky’s hospitals and ICU’s than at any other time during the pandemic.
He also reported 12 deaths, including an 85-year old man in Hopkins County.
The governor says the commonwealth is headed in the wrong direction.
Kentucky Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack says the state’s on pace to have its most cases during any month in October.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported 2,646 new coronavirus cases in Tennessee Saturday and 32 additional deaths. Montgomery County added 49 cases, Robertson 24 and Stewart County had two new cases.
