Resumption of jury trials in Christian County postponed

The first jury trial since March had been on the docket for Monday morning in Christian Circuit Court, but it won’t happen due to a COVID-19 exposure.

Circuit Judge John Atkins says he learned Sunday that the prosecutor in the case is quarantined after someone in her household tested positive for the virus.

The trial will be postponed—possibly for as soon as later this month—and jurors will not have to report Monday morning.

Extensive measures have been taken at the Christian County Justice Center to continue with proceedings as normal as possible while also protecting the health of the public, defendants and officers of the court.
