Gov. Beshear announces 1,002 new COVID cases, seven new deaths

Kentucky remains on track to have the most new COVID-19 cases in a week since the pandemic began after Governor Andy Beshear announced 1,002 new cases Saturday.

At least 188 of those positive tests were children 18 and younger and the youngest was only three months old.

The governor also announced seven new deaths, including an 89-year old man from Union County. Those new deaths bring the fatality count to 1,249.

At least 13,539 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus and the state’s positivity rate stands at 4.16 percent.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 1,646 new cases and 26 additional deaths. Montgomery County gained 51, Robertson 14 and Stewart County added three new cases.
