Foot pursuit ends with arrest of man on meth trafficking charge

A foot pursuit Thursday afternoon ended on Wooldridge Road with the arrest of a man on methamphetamine trafficking charges.

Hopkinsville police were acting on a tip and looking for a suspect sought on a warrant and an arrest citation says 29-year old William Carneyhan of Hopkinsville matched the description given by the caller.

He was on a bicycle and crashed after attempting to drive through back yard to evade police.

Carneyhan was caught following a brief foot pursuit and police say a search of his clothes and backpack revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, digital scales and a glass smoking device.

He denied medical treatment at Jennie Stuart Medical Center and was then booked in the Christian County Jail for charges of trafficking in meth, fleeing or evading police and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
