Kentucky gained 926 new cases of COVID-19 from Tuesday to Wednesday, and an announcement was made concerning childcare in the state.
That puts the overall total in the state at 76,587, with the positivity rate now at 4.21 percent, staying pretty steady at where it’s been for the past several days. Governor Andy Beshear also reported 1,472 ‘historical’ cases, which he says is thanks to many local health departments reporting backlogs.
Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary Eric Friedlander says childcare agencies continue to reopen slowly, and still need support. He says they’ll be allocating some additional CARES Act funding to benefit childcare facilities in the state, in an effort to keep them open at a time when they are even more vital than usual.
Five more Kentuckians have passed way due to COVID-19, upping the death toll to 1,223. The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 2,080 new cases there and 21 new deaths. Montgomery County gained 39 cases, Robertson County reported 21 and Stewart County added seven.
