Ky. gains 616 COVID-19 cases, four new deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is reporting another 616 COVID-19 cases in the state Sunday, and that the week had the highest amount of new cases of the pandemic.

That puts the total at 72,617 coronavirus cases in the Commonwealth—seventy-six of the newly reported cases were from children ages 18 and younger. Governor Beshear says with the new cases Sunday, the previous weekly record has been shattered, which was set just last week.

Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack says this week has not been a good one for Kentucky, and that since there is no cure and no vaccine just yet, the best method for stopping the spread are preventative measures, including wearing face masks and frequently washing hands.

Four more Kentuckians have died, including a 90-year old man from Logan County, putting the death toll at 1,209.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 1,615 new cases of COVID-19 and 17 new deaths—Montgomery County gained 23 new cases, Robertson County saw six and Stewart County gained 17 new cases.
