CCHD reports two new COVID-19 related deaths, lifts recommended restrictions

The Christian County Health Department is reporting the county’s 24th and 25th COVID-19 related deaths and announces they’re lifting recommended restrictions.

According to a news release, the victims are a 66-year old white female and an 89-year old white male, both of whom had other underlying health conditions—officials says their thoughts and prayers go out to their friends and family, along with all those who have lost someone.

They also report 30 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, up to 1,397—of that, 187 are considered active and 1,185 people have recovered.

The recent recommendations that had been set down by the department, including stopping sports, discontinuing social events, and having only one person per household go into businesses, have been lifted.  That’s due to the county’s incident rate decreasing from 28.7 to 23.1 since the recommendations were instated—as of Friday, the incident rate is at 21.5.

The health department urges people to keep up the hard work that lowered that rate by continuing to wear masks while in public and frequently and thoroughly washing their hands.
