Austin Peay State University and Montgomery County officials signed a lease agreement today for the Governors men and women’s basketball teams to become the primary tenant for Montgomery County’s Multi-Purpose Event Center when the facility opens in Fall 2022.

It will take Austin Peay basketball off-campus regularly for the first time since 1953, when the Red Barn was opened and from the Dunn Center where the Governors have played since 1975.

The facility is slated to become the crown jewel of downtown Clarksville. At just shy of 280,000 square feet, the facility will house offices for the men and women’s basketball coaching staffs, a practice arena for the exclusive use of the Austin Peay basketball programs and offer luxury suite accommodations with dedicated catering, a club level and enhanced concession offerings, overnight transforming Austin Peay home basketball contests into one of the top experiences in the Ohio Valley Conference—across all sports.
