Updated: Guthrie woman killed in US 79 collision

Kentucky State Police have released information and identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred in Todd County Thursday night.

According to a news release, the two-vehicle collision occurred in the 6000 block of US 79 in Guthrie around 8 p.m. Investigation determined that a vehicle driven by 72-year old James Gilkey of Clarksville was heading southbound on US 79 and failed to see a tractor operating in the roadway.

Gilkey’s vehicle collided with the tractor from the rear, causing the driver of the tractor, 62-year old Rose Coblentz of Guthrie, to be ejected. Coblentz was taken to Tenova Health Hospital, where she would later die of her injuries.
