Hopkinsville man arrested for allegedly firing gunshots during altercation

A Hopkinsville man accused of firing a gun during an altercation with his ex-girlfriend on East Fourth Street Monday morning has been arrested.

The victim went to the residence on Fourth to pick up some mattresses about 9:40 a.m. and said she found them in the rain. She told Hopkinsville police she attempted to break a window to get inside the home where her name is also on the lease and that’s when 34-year old Dayron Caldwell of Hopkisnville opened the door and fired three shots from a gun into the air.

He then allegedly fired a fourth shot into the side of the victim’s vehicle as she fled the scene with another woman.

No one was injured and Caldwell followed them to James Village, where he allegedly pointed his gun at Hill again, but did not shoot, before breaking her rear glass.

Caldwell was arrested later in the day and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and criminal mischief.
