Breckinridge County heads to state after winning 2nd region title

Players dealt with rain, sunshine and gusty winds and tough pin placements at Monday’s Boys 2nd Region tournament at Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club and Breckinridge County came away as the team winner with a 334 team score and a trip to next week’s state tournament. Hopkinsville was second with 337, Christian County was ninth with 360.

Webster County’s Grant Puckett was low individual with 75, Madisonville’s Aaron Munger had 77 and Jackson Hill had 79. Muhlenberg County’s Nolan Nofsinger and Owensboro Catholic’s Jacob Wellman had 80 with three golfers coming back to play this morning in a playoff after each had 81. Those individuals also qualify for state.

No player from Christian County, Hopkinsville or UHA qualified for state individually. Evan Pyle was low man for Hopkinsville with 82, Houston George of Christian County had 84 and Jiles Wyatt of UHA had 86.
