Superintendent talks decrease in COVID-19 cases in CCPS

Fall break is next week for Christian County Public Schools and in-person instruction continues with health guidelines in place for students.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel says things have improved in the way of active COVID-19 cases in the system, with 11 in-person cases, four in the Virtual Learning Academy and one staff member, a large decrease from last Tuesday.

During fall break the schools will undergo extensive cleaning to be ready for students to come back on with the same in-person hybrid model for middle and high schoolers and traditional for elementary students—he says they’re always monitoring the possibility of returning everyone to traditional.

In some good news, the ordered 3,500 Chromebooks that will allow for every student to have access to a device are expected to arrive soon after fall break. Christian County has been lowered from a ‘red’ designation to ‘orange’, with Bentzel saying those are recommendations set down by the state and he believes the students and staff continue to work hard to be able to attend in person.
