Indictments returned for murder, first-degree assault

A Christian County Grand Jury has returned an indictment for murder against Tyreese Hollowell, the man charged with murder in the East First Street fatal shooting that took place August 14.

Hollowell is also indicted for first-degree assault, along with the murder charge, as a suspect in the shooting that ended in the death of 39-year old Tiffany Hinton Gray and sent 17-year old Kanina Willingham to a Nashville hospital with severe injuries.  The shooting occurred on East First Street around 1:30 a.m. August 14 and Hollowell is lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Indicted for first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment and receiving stolen property is 60-year old James Martin of Russellville.  Martin is alleged to have grabbed and dragged a child toward a vehicle when an argument ensued between him and the child’s father—32-year old Wesley Beach of Hopkinsville during a custody exchange at Walmart.

That’s when Martin allegedly brandished a gun and shot Beach, who was treated for injuries to his chest and arm and then released from Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Beach tried to return fire from his own weapon during the exchange in what appears to have been self-defense, according to police. Martin was not struck by gunfire.
