Coin toss to be used for jump balls this season

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association for this season due to Covid-19 is eliminating jump balls to begin games and overtimes. The new rule indicates a coin flip will determine the team that gets the basketball to start the game, with the alternating arrow set once the first toss in is made.

The measure also calls for a coin flip at the start of the first overtime period, with subsequent overtime periods to begin with the team getting the ball based on the alternate possession arrow.
