Christian Fiscal Court hears update from Clerk’s Office

The plan is to have seven locations to vote in-person on Election Day in Christian County, but the clerk’s office is also reminding the community of the options to vote by mail or vote early.

Pending the approval of the Secretary of State’s Office, Elections Coordinator Melinda Humphries told fiscal court Tuesday morning the plan is to have seven precincts open from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3.

She says you’ll be able to vote at any of those seven locations, regardless of where in Christian County you live.

You can request a mail-in absentee ballot by logging onto govoteky.com through October 9 and there will be early voting with no excuse needed at the Christian County Courthouse and Sheriff’s Department from Tuesday, October 13 through Monday, November 2 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. That schedule includes the same hours on all three Saturdays.

In a non-election matter, Clerk Mike Kem noted the pandemic grace period to make good on overdue vehicle registration bills ends October 6 and there will be penalties if you don’t renew by then.

Christian County Animal Shelter Director Irene Grace reported that a total of 274 cats and dogs found homes through that facility last month.

Amy Frogue with the PADD office received authority to proceed with application for grant funds through the Center for Tech and Civic Life to offset extra costs associated with holding an election during a pandemic.
