Ky. gains 406 COVID-19, Gov. urges citizens to get flu shot

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 406 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, and one new death.

That brings the overall total in the state up to 61,948, with the positivity rate declining slightly again to 3.77 percent.  The governor says although the battle definitely continues against COVID-19, he’s urging people to get their flu shot this year, now more than ever, as it will help keep people from getting another virus that kills people every year.

Kentucky has applied for the additional FEMA money that will help give unemployment recipients an additional $400 per payment—$300 would come from the federal government and $100 from the state.  The CDC has once again updated their testing guidelines, including that people who have been in direct contact with someone with coronavirus, you need to get tested.

Governor Beshear says the positivity rate remaining relatively low is a good thing, but it will depend on how Kentuckians choose to continue following those health guidelines moving forward that it stays that way.

One more Kentuckian has died, raising that total to 1,112.  The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 895 new cases and 15 new deaths.  Montgomery County saw 10 new cases, Robertson County gained 11 and Stewart County added two new cases.
