The Christian County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a Citizen’s Sheriff Academy beginning in November and applications can start being turned in October 1.
According to a news release, the eight-hour program will be focused on educating the participants on the day to day job of a deputy sheriff in Christian County while having fun in the process. The classes will be held on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. beginning November 17 and running through December 8.
Anyone interested in participating—the academy will be limited to 25 participants—can pick up an application at the Christian County Sheriff’s Department on West Seventh Street in Hopkinsville. They can also be found online at the department’s website. The deadline to apply is November 1.
Applicants will be educated on the duties of the Sheriff’s Office, including traffic stops, equipment, law enforcement tactics, simulated court sessions, investigative techniques and more.
