A new trial date will be set next month for the woman accused in the 2019 shooting death of Amareya’ Freeman if a plea deal isn’t reached.
Trial had been scheduled for Monday for Anshanique Leavell, but it was postponed.
Defense attorney Michael Thompson said in Christian Circuit Court Monday that he’s in discussions with Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling about possibly resolving the case.
Judge John Atkins scheduled a pre-trial conference for October 21, but says they’ll schedule a trial then if a deal isn’t reached.
Leavell is accused of shooting Freeman in the chest at an apartment on Greenville Road on June 6 of last year and is charged with murder, receiving stolen property and complicity to tampering with physical evidence.
