Kentucky has second-largest jump in new COVID-19 cases Saturday

Kentucky had its second-highest single day total of new COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began Saturday.

Governor Andy Beshear reported 1,002 new cases, a number that he says should be motivation for Kentuckians to do what it takes to reduce the spread of the virus.

He says slowing the virus is even more important with kids returning to schools across Kentucky.

At least 145 of the new cases were 18 or younger and 29 are five or under. The governor also announced seven new deaths, bringing that total to 1,108.

Tennessee reported 942 new cases and 20 additional deaths. Stewart County had one of its largest bumps in new cases at 21, Robertson County added 10 and Montgomery County gained four.
