Louisville area native Justin Thomas holds a one-stroke lead going into today’s second round of the U.S. Open. He shot a five-under 65 Thursday at Winged Foot setting the record for a low round in a US Opn at that course. Patrick Reed, Matthew Wolf and Thomas Pieters are tied for second at four-under. Rory McIlroy is among a group at 67.
Tiger Woods had a double-bogey on the final hole and is tied for 71st after a three-over 73. Defending champion Gary Woodland is at four-over, along with Owensboro’s John Augenstein, who’s playing as an amateur. Nashville’s Brandt Snedeker had a five over 75.
