Ky. sees 777 new COVID-19 cases, positivity drops to 3.6 percent

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 777 new COVID-19 cases Friday that Kentucky’s positivity rate has dropped to the lowest it’s been in months.

Those 777 new cases puts the total in the state at 60,128—97 of the new cases were children under the age of 18. In some good news, the governor says the positivity rate sitting at 3.6 percent is excellent, and that by postponing the start of in-person education, it was to give the positivity rate to go down.

Eight more Kentuckians have died, up to 1,101 lost since the pandemic began.  Governor Beshear says it only took ten days to get to that number from 1,000, which shows there’s still work to be done.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 2,357 new cases in the Volunteer State, up to 180,497, and 32 new deaths, up to 2,196.  Montgomery County gained 31 new cases, Robertson County saw 15 and Stewart County added 11 new cases.
