Kentucky gained 776 new cases of COVID-19 from Tuesday to Wednesday, according to Governor Andy Beshear, and 8 new deaths.
Those new cases brings the overall total in the Commonwealth up to 58,764, with the positivity rate sitting at 3.89 percent. Governor Beshear says wearing a mask remains vital to the health of Kentuckians and that’s backed up by the White House and other health officials.
He says the data shows that things are moving in the right direction for the state concerning the virus—though Christian County is once again listed as in the ‘red zone’ by the White House, along with Trigg and Logan Counties. Todd and Muhlenberg Counties were listed as ‘yellow’.
Mark Carter with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services says contact tracing continues to ramp up in the state, and they’re looking to add even more to help track the spread of the virus.
He gave a shout out to multiple Public Health Directors for their efforts to help in the effort and who have gone above the call of duty, including Christian County’s Kayla Bebout. Eight more Kentuckians have died, putting the death toll since the pandemic began at 1,082.
Tennessee reported 1,856 new cases of COVID-19 and 24 new deaths. Montgomery County saw 47 new cases, Robertson County gained 13 and Stewart County added four new cases.
