Former Nashville Predators coach Peter Laviolette has landed as the new coach of the Washington Capitals. The 55-year-old becomes the 19th head coach in Caps history. He is the fourth coach in NHL history to lead three different teams to the Stanley Cup Final, including Nashville in 2017.
Laviolette spent six seasons as Predators coach and was let go in January. He replaces Todd Reirden, who was fired last month after a second consecutive first-round exit in the playoffs.
