The Christian County Public School System continues to monitor COVID-19 in the community and in the schools, and discussed the current numbers on the COVID Data Dashboard.
That dashboard can be found on the district website and is available to the public—as of Tuesday it showed 10 active COVID-19 cases in the district and 68 individuals in quarantine. Superintendent Chris Bentzel clarified that of those 10 active cases three are adults, and of the seven students, two are in the Virtual Learning Academy and four of them were already under quarantine when they tested positive and haven’t been in a school building.
One of the active cases was a Central Office Staff member, with Bentzel saying since everyone has been strict with those health guidelines the risk of exposure is low.
Of the 68 quarantined, only three of them were in connection to the schools—the rest were due to outside incidents in the community, according to Bentzel, who says that shows the school system is doing a good job of keeping students as safe as possible.
Bentzel bragged on both the students and staff for their hard work and dedication as they get a very unusual school year under way, saying there have been no issues with mask compliance or other guidelines. There are now 2,996 students enrolled in the Virtual Learning Academy.
