70th Annual Rotary Auction begins tonight

The 70th Annual WHOP Rotary Radio Auction begins tonight and while it will be changed in many ways by the pandemic, the mission to help local high school graduates attend college remains the same.

The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville is celebrating its 100th anniversary and Auction Chair Scott Cowan says the theme of ‘Service Above Self’ honors that legacy.

While the diner and sweet shop can’t open this year because of COVID-19 restrictions, Cowan says they’ll be selling Boston Butts each day beginning at 11 a.m. for $40.

All bids will be coming in on the phone and Cowan says call in early with your best bid if you want an item.

One of the best ways to help the auction be successful is calling in a cash donation of $174 or more to the Hour Club.

The auction will be Monday through Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m., Friday from 6 until 10 and Saturday from 6 until all items are sold. Auction items are still needed and anyone wanting to donate can call Rotary at 270-886-3034.

The Rotary Auction will air on Lite Rock 98.7 and online at lite987whop.com and it can also be watched on the Hopkinsville Rotary website or on Spectrum cable channel 376.
