Kentucky again set a record for total of new COVID-19 cases in one week, despite a relatively low number on Sunday.
There were 313 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kentucky Sunday and three additional deaths.
Numbers are almost always lower on Sundays due to fewer labs reporting.
Even still, Kentucky had 4,742 new cases over a period of seven days, surpassing the record set last week by a little over 200 cases.
Governor Andy Beshear said in a statement Sunday afternoon, “We’re facing the challenge of our lifetimes and we must do better. These past six months have been devastating for so many Kentucky families.”
The three fatalities were from Harlan, Fayette and Lewis County, bringing the death total to 996 since the pandemic began.
Tennessee reported 1,764 new cases and three more deaths. Montgomery County gained 19 cases, Robertson County added 16 and there was one new case in Stewart County.
